Industry and education unite at STEM Hub
UTC Reading’s latest STEM Hub meeting was a great success, with industry partners and other local companies coming together to explore ideas relating to science, technology, engineering and maths.
UTC Reading experimented with a new format for this meeting, beginning with presentations by Thames Water, CGI, Peter Brett Associates, Creat3d Ltd and University of Reading. Schools and providers then had the opportunity to attend breakout sessions to discuss events, workshops and other STEM opportunities.
The new format went down extremely well. Jon Brydges, from Creat3d Ltd, said: “Today’s meeting was well focused on finding solutions to industry training needs.”
There was a high level of enthusiasm throughout the meeting and we hope the event will continue to grow in future. The STEM Hub provides an ideal platform for sharing ideas and raising awareness amongst primary and secondary schools of the inspirational STEM events that are on offer from industry partners.
Rebecca Cackett, from CGI, said: “The meeting offered an opportunity for providers to engage with a large number of schools, something that would take many weeks without a platform of this type.”
The next of these events will be held on Wednesday 29 June, 4-6pm.
