Headteacher (statutory Head from Sept 2024)

Jennie Thomson is a home grown leader, having started her career at UTC Reading in 2014, straight after qualifying as Biology teacher from Canterbury Christ Church University.

She has worked in various leadership roles in the school, including Director of KS4 (years 10 & 11), and Assistant Principal, firstly with responsibility for behaviour and welfare, and then teaching and learning. 

In September 2022, Jennie was Deputy Head of School with responsibility for the Quality of Education. She has achieved her Masters of Education in School based Leadership and Management, and achieved a distinction in the Apprenticeships part in March 2023, earning her Chartered Managers Status. 

Jennie was appointed Head of School (and now Headteacher) in October 2023, and focussed on getting UTC Reading back to being recognised as a high quality school and truly transforming lives through learning.

Lee Reynolds

Lee Reynolds

Assistant Principal

With over two decades of professional experience across education and the military, Lee brings a dynamic and strategic approach to his role as Assistant Principal at UTC Reading. Joining the team in January 2024, he leads on Behaviour and Safeguarding, Pastoral Care, and School Culture, championing a holistic, student-centred ethos.
Before joining UTC Reading, Lee held various leadership roles at St Birinus School in Didcot, including Head of Year and Deputy Head of Mathematics. During his time there, he guided year groups across KS3 and KS4, developed curriculum frameworks, and supported the wellbeing and progress of students through strong pastoral systems and clear behavioural standards.
His earlier career at The Oxford Academy included positions as Digital Leader and KS3 Mathematics Coordinator, reflecting his forward-thinking approach to educational technology and data-driven curriculum planning. Prior to entering the education sector, Lee served for 15 years in the HM Forces, where he developed expertise in operations management, strategic planning, and leadership development through a series of instructional and command roles.
A firm believer in building resilient, respectful learning communities, Lee is known for his ability to motivate teams, foster safe and inclusive environments, and drive innovation in behaviour management and safeguarding practices. His diverse background enables him to connect with students and staff from all walks of life, bringing out the best in those he leads.
Richa Pareek

Richa Pareek

Assistant Principal

As an experienced Senior Leader with a robust academic foundation, including a doctorate from a renowned university in the USA, Richa is am committed to driving the highest standards in education at UTC Reading. Her career spans both independent and mainstream secondary schools, where she has held pivotal roles such as Director of Mathematics, Director of Data, Assistant Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher (Academic and Pastoral). Throughout her career, she has consistently championed innovation, academic achievement, and an inclusive ethos. She has also played an active role in developing the next generation of teachers through work with the University of Reading’s PGCE programme, ensuring our profession is built on strong pedagogical principles and practical expertise. Multilingual and culturally attuned, she leads with integrity, evidence-based practice, and a relentless commitment to the success and well-being of students, parents, staff and all stakeholders.

Georgina Craven

Georgina Craven

Executive Director of SEND (SENCo)

Georgina is an experienced SEND leader with over thirteen years specializing in supporting neurodiverse learners and leading SEND provision. Beginning her career as an LSA, she progressed through roles including Senior LSA, Teacher of Biology, Director of SEND, and now Executive Director of SEND. A qualified teacher with a Marine Zoology degree from Newcastle University, Georgina also holds a Master’s in SEND, specialising in SEMH and Autism, alongside the National Award for SEN Coordination and accreditation as an Access Arrangements Assessor. She has contributed to SEND practice at both school and local authority level, including sitting on EHCP panels and leading school‑wide implementation of SEND technology systems. As a Therapeutic Thinking trainer, she champions inclusive, neuroaffirming practice rooted in the social model of disability and strongly believes in celebrating the strengths that neurodiversity brings to education and the wider world.
