Student celebrations - spring term 2015

Before we head into the Easter break, we spent an afternoon celebrating the success of our students.

Before we head into the Easter break, we spent an afternoon celebrating the success of our students.
Achievement and attainment awards in each subject were presented to students from all year groups. Students who received attainment awards have been doing the absolute best in their subject and those who were presented with achievement awards are students who staff believe are progressing well.
Certificates were also awarded to students who completed a pioneering social media course developed by industry partners Social Retail Group and Fujitsu. It was the first time the course was delivered in an education environment.
During their enrichment session on a Friday and using our new Fujitsu Innovation Hub, students carried out an audit of a local organisation’s Twitter profile before creating an idea that the organisation could implement and monitor its success. Students presented their idea to a panel from Social Retail Group, Fujitsu and Peter Brett Associates. The panel were so impressed with all the ideas that they will be organising for students to present to the organisation they created their idea for.
A selection of students will also present their idea later this year at the national UTColleges conference. The social media course will be rolled out nationally at the nine other Fujitsu Innovation Hubs.
We were also treated to music from The Legacy, one of our student bands who have been developing their musical talents with Reading Rock Academy. You can see some of their performance in this Youtube clip.
Students have also been working on professional qualifications during enrichment and we were able to give out many certificates to students who had become Microsoft Office Specialists and who had achieved qualification from Microsoft Technical Academy and Adobe. Professional qualifications are one of the many ways that our students will be able to differentiate themselves on their university, apprenticeship and employment applications.
Awards were also given to those who had 100% attendance, earned the most bytes (UTC currency) for their company.
