Opening of Fujitsu Innovation Hub

We officially became the country’s first Fujitsu Ambassador and opened our new Innovation Hub.

Today (14 January) we officially became the country’s first Fujitsu Ambassador and opened our new Innovation Hub.

Guests from across the local community and education and technology sectors were invited to the launch event. They got to spend time with our students finding out how they will use the technology Fujitsu and their global partner Intel have provided to develop their digital skills.

The Fujitsu Education Ambassador programme aims to enhance teaching and unleash student’s potential by putting technology at the heart of education. It is supported by the Education Technology Action Group (ETAG), whose mission is to promote the use of digital technology across schools, further education, higher education and Special Education Needs (SEN) sectors.

As part of the programme, Fujitsu has partnered with ten educational institutions across the UK, including UTC Reading. All ambassadors have been selected based on their recognition of technology as an enabler to enhance the learning experience and to develop digital skills for students and teachers.

Student Executive Board President Anwar and Vice-President Katherine gave a speech before the official ribbon cutting. You can watch the video here.

Principal Joanne said: “I am delighted that UTC Reading has become a Fujitsu Ambassador and am very excited that we are the first Innovation Hub in the country to open.

“I look forward to seeing the hub being used regularly not only by our students and staff, but also by local community groups and primary schools.”
