Year 13 student secures prestigious degree apprenticeship with Jaguar Land Rover
Year 13 student, Hashim, has been accepted onto a degree apprenticeship with Jaguar Land Rover, starting in September 2019.
Hashim was drawn to an apprenticeship because of the ‘earn while you learn’ structure and is looking forward to a more hands-on way of learning.
Hashim joined UTC Reading in Year 12 to study business and maths A-levels and a single BTEC in computer science. Following a recommendation from a friend who had joined the UTC in Year 10, he was particularly impressed by the company links that the UTC provides to students.
The exposure to industry partners has been really beneficial for Hashim; this year he is completing the UTC Pipeline Programme with NTT Security, as well as gaining valuable insights into cyber security in business and Salesforce enrichments sessions.
In 2018, Hashim was awarded The Duke of York Award for Technical Education, for which he was mentored by an industry partner from Cisco as part of the UTC Reading Group Mentoring Programme.
Hashim believes he will be much more prepared for the world of work on completion of his studies at UTC Reading and is thankful to the UTC for informing him of the different career and education routes available to him.
We wish Hashim the best of luck in his apprenticeship and his bright future!
