UTC Reading and IET Berkshire Network praised for strong partnership
IET Berkshire Network have been announced a winner at The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) UK Communities Volunteer Conference 2018.
The committee won the ‘Most rewarding new relationship with external stakeholders’ award for their extensive work with UTC Reading.
IET Berkshire Network and UTC Reading have been working in collaboration to engage young people’s interests in STEM subjects and careers.
Abhaya Sumanasena, Chairman of IET Berkshire Network, said: "I am pleased to announce that IET Berkshire Network won the award. Our relationship with UTC Reading has proven to be fantastic. I am extremely grateful to my committee members and Michael Halliday at UTC Reading, for their valuable contributions."
IET Berkshire Network are a group who promote science, engineering and technology, encouraging others to enter the profession, as well as providing opportunities to share and develop STEM knowledge and network with others.
Michael Halliday, Business Relations Manager at UTC Reading said: “With our combined outreach projects, such as the IET STEM talks programme at four secondary schools in Reading, and the Eco Engineers Challenge, last year delivered to over 500 local primary and secondary school children, we are extremely pleased to hear that the IET Berkshire Network has been recognised and awarded for their commitment to UTC Reading and the education ecosystem.
“This year has proven to be a fantastic enhancement of the IET supporting the schools community in Reading. We are extremely grateful for the committee’s support.”
