UTC Reading student wins Young Engineer for Britain award

We are delighted that Year 12 UTC Reading student Adam Carter has won a Young Engineer for Britain award.

Young Engineer for Britain (YEB) is a STEM competition and educational enrichment programme. YEB challenge school students to use their imagination to design and develop an exciting and original idea, system or research project, based on a genuine need.

In September, Adam joined the YEB Mentoring Programme. On this programme, students are mentored by experienced scientists and engineers from the National Physical Laboratory in London. Extra help is provided by the Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers, the British Library and Young Engineers.

For three days last month, Adam competed at the Big Bang Fair at the NEC in Birmingham in the final of the competition, where he presented his project of a durable smartphone with interchangeable components. At the end of the competition, Adam was presented with the Young Engineers Award for Craftsmanship. Congratulations Adam on this fantastic achievement!
