On 3 July, students who will be joining our Sixth Form in September spent the day with industry partner Network Rail at their regional training centre in Bristol.

Students were given a tour of the facility and had an introduction to Network Rail and the various aspects involved in maintaining the country’s railway lines.

After a great lunch, students had hands on activity of looking at signalling and points. They had the experience of moving points manually using the pump and to look at how the computer signalling system is integrated across the network.

During the afternoon they had the opportunity to see the new IVECO vehicle which had just arrived. This is used to travel down the tracks and on the road to transport engineers to the location of where faults and problems have occurred.

A great day had by all!
