2016 core projects launch

This year’s core projects have officially launched.

Students were introduced to their projects after half term, with several industry partners coming in to help get things started.

Engineering and computing students will complete their projects at the same time this year, with the final demonstrations taking place in early April.

The project for computing students is being sponsored by Cisco. Their task is to build and programme Internet of Things solutions using Raspberry Pi technology, and to understand how these solutions are applied in industry.

Engineering students have been tasked with using wearable technology to address the challenges faced by the engineering industry, identifying how Fujitsu wearable technology can be used to address the challenges faced by the industry partner leading their project. Peter Brett Associates, Thames Water, National Grid and AWE have each set their own specific challenges for the students based on the overall brief.

Students will present their final projects in April and each industry partner will choose a winning team from the teams they have project-managed. We look forward to seeing the results.
