Community Project Day to raise money for homelessness charities

On Thursday 1 December, UTC Reading will be holding a Community Project Day.

This is our well-known ‘drop-down’ day, where all students will be off-timetable engaging with a project, but with a twist – this year we will be asking the students to look into the issue of homelessness and if they can help raise money and supplies.

On the Project Day students will have the opportunity to develop their own employability skills while working in small groups to develop solutions to the current homeless crisis in the UK, supported by Cisco and Stantec.

This day is for all students in all year groups, and alongside the project we are raising money and gathering donations for the local Reading community; Launchpad and ReadiFood.

Students are invited to attend in non-uniform, in return for a £1 donation, and we would also like students to make a donation to the foodbank (where they are able).

We will be collecting foodbank donations from Monday 28 November all week at reception. Please see this list for more information about the food they are currently in need of: https://readifood.org.uk/what-food-we-need/.

On the Project Day we will be fundraising for Launchpad and ReadiFood through other events such as cake sales and throw a sponge at the teacher!

If you would like to get involved either as a parent/guardian or as an employer, we would welcome the support; please contact Stephanie.mitchell@utcreading.org.uk.

We can’t wait to see what UTC Reading students can do!
