Students celebrate GCSE results day

It was smiles all round yesterday as UTC Reading celebrated GCSE results.

A remarkable 89% of students from UTC Reading gained 4+ in Maths, with more top grades (7-9) than in any previous year.

Jonathan Nicholls, UTC Reading Principal, was delighted: "What is really special about these results is that they have been achieved by such a super bunch of students. I really do believe that if you have a kind, considerate and supportive environment, pupils will achieve more than anyone might expect. Happy students are, invariably, successful students."

75.5% of students achieved 4+ in English in Mathematics, with 53% achieving 5+ in both subjects.

It was fantastic to see so many students securing progression onto further study and apprenticeships, with brilliant results and significant progress over the last two years.

Marcus Bailey has worked tremendously hard throughout his two years at UTC Reading and has achieved his ultimate goal of an apprenticeship with one of the UTC’s key industry partners, AWE.

James Carter and Luke Pond both achieved very high results in all of their subjects and have secured places on our Level 3 Engineering course with A-level Maths. James achieved one A*, three As, two Bs, 8 and 9 in English and an 8 in Maths. Luke achieved one A*, four As, two Bs, 6 in English and an 8 in Maths.

Bettina Kahtava has made huge progress throughout her two years at UTC Reading and has achieved six As, one B, 6 and 5 in English and an 8 in Maths.

We are very proud of our students for everything they have worked hard to achieved since joining us in Year 10 and wish them every success with the next steps in their education.
