Dress code

Parent Update 06.11.2020 : Following new government guidelines all students must wear face coverings in all communal areas.

Please ensure your child has a suitable face covering, (preferably a 3 layer face mask, snoods are not deemed sufficient). We ask that face masks do not have any inappropriate graphics upon them. Should students forget to bring a suitable face covering, from Monday 9th November, we will charge £0.50 to provide them with a mask. This will be billed automatically to your ParentPay account.

At UTC Reading we mirror the working world in every way possible, and this includes what you wear.

All students and staff wear business-like attire. Our students say this is a change from their previous school and makes a big difference to their mindset being in a professional environment.

Male students wear a shirt and tie with formal trousers and a jacket. Female students wear formal trousers or a skirt/dress of reasonable length with a smart top and jacket.

For Year 10 and 11 PE lessons, students are required to wear a UTC Reading polo shirt. Please note that  the other items on our online shop are at parent discretion such as the V neck jumper. You can order the polo shirt here:

You can get all the details of our dress code in the student dress policy.
