Year 12 Electronics: DC Circuit Theory - diodes (October 2016)

During this lesson, students were completing an assignment as part of their BTEC. The purpose was to compare and record the different characteristics of diodes.

Students were instructed to imagine they were working as a trainee test engineer for a small electrical and electronics design company and that their team was starting to design a new power supply for use in electronic workshops. They were tasked with calculating and reporting back the different forward and reverse characteristics (Voltage and Current) of different types of semiconductor diodes. Students had to submit completed results tables, completed hand-drawn graphs, a written summary of the results and print-outs of captured schematics with simulations where possible.
