Year 10 Biology: Microscopy (November 2016)

The purpose of this lesson was for students to understand why it is important to use microscopes to examine living things at microscopic and molecular level. This is a practical skills lesson required as part of the new AQA GCSE syllabus.

Students were tasked with using an optical microscope to observe, draw and measure cells in an onion skin as well as identifying structures within the cell. They had to complete a range of tasks using different parts of the microscope so that by the end of the lesson they would understand how to effectively use it and interpret what they could see.
