Please note the additional detail included about the Progress 8 score:
Some schools start educating pupils partway through the 5-year period covered by Progress 8, which should be taken into account when comparing their results with schools that start at Key Stage 3. Progress 8 is not the most appropriate performance measure for university technical colleges, studio schools and some further education colleges. These establishments typically start educating pupils at age 14, with a focus on preparing pupils for their future careers by providing an integrated academic and professional education. Other headline measures, particularly pupil destinations, are more important for these establishments.
For our KS4 students, whilst the DFE data states 96% staying in education or entering employment, this number is now 100%.
55% of Year 11 students stayed on into Year 12 at UTC Reading
33% of Year 11 started programmes at local Further Education Colleges
5% of Year 11 started apprenticeships
7% of Year 11 joined sixth form provision in other schools

UTC Reading offers a very focused and responsive curriculum at KS5 where students study in one of three routes. Technical, Hybrid (Technical and A Levels) or A Level. Our students chose a route of study that they believe best support them to achieve their goals for the future whether that be apprenticeship, employment or university.
We specialise in Engineering and Computer Science and in 2019, our students once again proved how successful they can be in these technical subjects with the average grade for Applied General and Tech Levels being a Distinction. This is for the newer type of NQF BTEC Qualifications that include examinations along with highly technical assignments to complete over the two years.
Once again, the key measure for success for UTC Reading, particularly for Year 13 students is their destinations.
Below are some of the companies and universities that our students are now working for, studying in or where they are completing degree apprenticeships.
Through a combination of their study programmes and the experiences they have access to at UTC Reading, our students can reach incredible destinations and create the foundations for a successful career and life.
