At UTC Reading we have a team of people that lead on, and contribute to, the Careers provision. Please see a list of key contacts and their details below:

Executive Director of Careers and Destinations

Stephanie Mitchell

Stephanie is the Executive Director of Careers and Destinations at UTC Reading and is otherwise known as the Careers Leader. Stephanie sits within the leadership group and leads the careers team to deliver all elements of the UTC Reading Careers Programme. Stephanie is currently undertaking her Level 6 qualification in Careers Leadership and has successfully led the college to achieve the Career Mark. Stephanie has been at UTC Reading since September 2016, and has a passion for diversity in STEM, partnering with WISE to encourage more females to take up a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, as well as the Arts. A firm believer in learning through creativity, Stephanie also heads up the Design and Technology department, teaching subjects such as Product Design and Architecture.

Events Lead

Amy Sutcliffe

Amy is the Events Lead at UTC Reading and works closely with both the Executive Director of Careers and Destinations as well as the ALET Head of Employer Engagement Strategy. Amy is a key member of staff who supports the coordination and organisation of all of our internal careers and employer events such as our KS5 Pipeline and KS4 Experience Programmes. Amy is currently undertaking her Level 4 qualification in Careers Administration and has worked in event management for a number of diverse organisations, including the UK’s leading cultural tour operator and the British Council.

Head of Employer Engagement Strategy (ALET)

Michael Halliday

Michael is the Head of Employer Engagement Strategy across the Activate Learning Education Trust (ALET). Formerly known as the Business Relations Manager at UTC Reading, Michael still works closely with the Executive Director of Careers and Destinations and the Events Lead to secure and support employer events at UTC Reading. Michael brings over ten years of experience in corporate and enterprise IT integration sales and seven years of communication training and consultancy experience to his role. He works with UTC Reading to design and implement an enriching education that prepares young people for the world of work.

UCAS Coordinator

Nicola Gibson

Nicola is the UCAS Coordinator at UTC Reading and works closely with the Executive Director of Careers and Destinations to support students with the university application process. Nicola brings many years of expertise in this area to ensure that students and parents are fully supported throughout the UCAS process including being involved with our Destinations Day and Evening, regular meetings with students and personal statement drop-in sessions.
