E-Learning vs BYOD for 2018-2019

When deciding whether to opt into our eLearning scheme or let your child bring their own device, there are a few things to consider.  If you opt into the scheme, you will be given a laptop that is fit for purpose, that has the correct software on for all lessons, be insured for theft or damage and your child will be offered a loan laptop if their own laptop is not available for any reason.  It will be equipped with everything they need to support their learning and will also be managed by our IT team in terms of anti-virus, software updates and any hardware/software problems.  This will remove any hassle for you as a parent as all of the warranty/technical support is handled by us.  If you do decide to let your child bring their own device, this device will still be subject to our acceptable use policy and as such, will have a mandatory piece of software installed so that we can monitor your child’s network access whilst at school.  If you have any questions relating to the eLearning scheme, please do email jax.snipp@utcreading.org.uk
