9% is not enough
In December 2016 The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) launched its campaign to get more women into engineering, using the hashtag #9%isnotenough.
As of autumn 2016 only 9% of the engineering workforce in the UK were women, something that the IET is striving to change.
By posting a selfie with the message 9% is not enough, supporters can show that they are behind the push for more women to enter into STEM careers.
As an inclusive learning environment UTC Reading is committed to supporting girls who choose to study a range of subjects and build a career in technical industries. As such we have been strong proponents of the IET 9% is not enough campaign, using our social media presence to post pictures of staff, students and visitors to the college raising their hands in support of this initiative.
