What our students say
Robert Goodenough, Year 12
Robert Goodenough joined the UTC in Year 12, having been attracted to the facilities and specialisms in computing and engineering.
Having set his sights on a future apprenticeship or university degree in his favourite subject of computer science, the UTC is helping him to get a head start on his career.
When asked if he was glad he decided to join the UTC this year, Robert said: "I am – the teachers here have been really welcoming and are understanding if you’re unsure about anything, which helps with settling into a new school."
Going on to speak about his highlights so far, Robert said: “I have enjoyed working on the lights project. It was good to get experience of presenting to people and working with employers.
"I’m also really enjoying the cyber security side of things, which is unit 7 of the BTEC. I find it very interesting and would like to learn more about it. It’s something that I hadn’t learnt about before joining the UTC.
"UTC Reading is very well-connected with its industry partners, which was another reason why I wanted to come here.”
