UTC Reading student appointed as CCF Lord-Lieutenant Cadet for 2020/21
UTC Reading Year 11 student, Cadet Flight Sergeant, Elise Hammond, has been awarded one of the highest achievements in the Cadet Forces, being appointed as CCF Lord-Lieutenant Cadet, to Mr James Puxley.
This prestigious title serves as a representative of an aide of the cadet forces to the British Royal Family.
Each year the Lord-Lieutenant appoints four senior cadets – one from the Army Cadet Force, the Sea Cadet Corps, the Air Training Corps and one from the Combined Cadet Force.
The cadets support the Lord Lieutenant in his work during their year of office, accompanying them to royal visits, award ceremonies and similar official events.
The Lord-Lieutenant Awards Ceremony for The Royal County of Berkshire will be held on the evening of Tuesday 20 October 2020.
Elise said: “It is a massive privilege to have been awarded the CCF Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet. To have even been nominated for the position is a huge achievement but to be awarded it was very exciting! Being one of the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets will offer me so many opportunities that I wouldn’t get anywhere else and I am looking forward to seeing what the year has to offer.”
Neil Pouney, Vice Principal and Combined Cadets Force Contingent Commander at UTC Reading said: “Elise has worked incredibly hard with her cadet activities. She has helped set up our contingent at UTC Reading and leads by example as our head cadet. She thoroughly deserves this accolade to represent the Combined Cadet Force next year as Lord Lieutenant’s cadet for Berkshire. I am sure she will also add value to the county with her role. Well done Elise, you have made us all very proud.”
