Stephanie Mitchell, our Executive Director of Careers and Destinations, has successfully passed her Careers Leadership Level 6 Certificate as funded by the Careers and Enterprise Company.

Starting in March 2019, Stephanie chose to study the accredited route from the Career Development Institute, comprising of three units;

  • Plan and design career related learning programmes
  • Lead and manage career development work in an organisation and,
  • Continuously improve career development work in an organisation.

Not only this, but Stephanie has explored workshops looking at career guidance theory and research as well as the changing education landscape.

Stephanie comments: “The difference that this training has had on my school practice has been second to none. It has enabled me to clarify my role as a careers leader, as well as given me a clear vision for the careers and destinations work at UTC Reading. I feel more confident in my role and I look forward to furthering my qualifications within the realms of careers provision in schools.”

Jonathan Nicholls, Principal, says: “Stephanie has developed whole school leadership skills; she is more confident about the range of opportunities available to students and is now more able to tailor the information for the right audience. Stephanie is able to hold herself to account against a clear set of objectives that align with the ongoing priorities of the UTC.”

On achieving the Level 6 in Careers Leadership, Stephanie has been awarded a £1,000 bursary for UTC Reading, which will be invested back into the careers provision for the students.
