Sixth Form taster event

Nearly 150 people came to our Sixth Form taster event to find out more about studying at the UTC.

Last night (9 December) we welcomed nearly 150 people to our Sixth Form taster event.

Alongside touring our state of the art facilities, visitors were able to get a flavour of life at the UTC from our students, staff and industry partners.

Vice-Principal Wayne Edwards and Assistant Principal Jonathan Nicholls gave a short presentation on the different routes of study in the Sixth Form:

  • BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering or IT, Level 3 Core Maths and Extended Project Qualification
Blending technical and academic qualifications
  • One BTEC award or subsidiary diploma in engineering or IT and three A-levels
  • One diploma in engineering or IT and two A-levels
  • One extended diploma in engineering or IT and one A-level
Academic route
  • Four A-levels

We also ran a Q&A session with some of our students and Mike Morris from lead industry partner Microsoft. Here are a couple of video clips:

We are still accepting applications for Year 12. Once we have received an application, we will arrange a meeting with a member of our senior leadership team to discuss the individual application, study options and career ambitions.

Our next taster event takes place on 15 January 2015 at the UTC. If you’re interested in finding out more about joining the UTC in Year 10 or 12, you can register your attendance through Eventbrite.
