Welcome to the latest edition of the UTC Reading newsletter. Take a look at the range of exciting activities that have been taking place over the past term:
Year 5 students from local primary take part in the Eco Home Challenge
On Friday 13 July, Year 5 pupils from Kidmore End Primary School took part in the ‘Grand Finale’ of their ‘UTC Reading Eco Engineers Challenge’ project.
UTC Reading compete in the Royal Navy Junior Field Gun Challenge
On Saturday 7 July, a team from UTC Reading competed against students from across the country in the Royal Navy Junior Field Gun Challenge.
UTC Reading receive Career Mark for the Quality In Careers Standard
UTC Reading has been awarded the prestigious Career Mark. As holders of a World Class Schools Award, this new accolade – presented on 23 May – recognises the UTC’s continued effective delivery of careers education information and guidance.
Year 10 students discover ‘The Power of Failure’
On Wednesday 13 June, Graham Kitteridge, Senior Systems Engineer at Lein Applied Diagnostics Ltd, one of UTC Reading’s industry partners, visited students as a guest speaker.
UTC Reading set to launch Combined Cadet Force from January 2019
Next year, UTC Reading students will be given the opportunity to join the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), Royal Air Force (RAF) section and take part in a whole array of exciting activities, such as flying, shooting, leadership and adventure training.
Teacher Profile: Siobhan Tyson
Siobhan joined UTC Reading as a Science Teacher in 2014, halfway through the first year of its opening. Today, she is the Director of Science, and a Professional Tutor, as well as recently becoming a designated ‘Specialist Leader in Education for science and teacher training’ status through the Department of Education.
