Year 10 students discover ‘The Power of Failure’

On Wednesday 13 June, Graham Kitteridge, Senior Systems Engineer at Lein Applied Diagnostics Ltd, one of UTC Reading’s industry partners, visited students as a guest speaker.

Graham gave an inspiring talk to our Year 10 students around the theme of ‘The Power of Failure’. He co-founded Think Engineer, a Research and Development company specialising in prototype software and hardware, where he is currently a prototype engineer.

Graham, who previously worked across the engineering sector, building products in areas such as: the Internet of things, wearable technologies and networked systems, was able to share his knowledge and experience with the students. During his presentation, he showed a video on how he failed 16 times when he was building his own 3D printer, but persevered and succeeded in the end.

Cimen Shain, Director of Mathematics at the school said: “It was an amazing and inspirational talk. Many students asked for his details to enquire about work experience opportunities. They hope to be able to take part in projects such as: how to build a robot, making a walking fish tank or helping Graham to create a prototype for his company.”

Thank you to Graham for visiting us and we hope to welcome him again soon.
