Royal Navy Training Week
This month, a group of eight engineering students from UTC Reading spent a week at Portsmouth Harbour with the Royal Navy, learning an array of skills and having the opportunity to see what it’s like to work in the Royal Navy.
Various activities took place over the trip including: knot tying workshops, tour of explosive mines, tour of an active war ship, learning the meaning behind ship maps, a lesson on gas turbines, sailing a motor boat through Portsmouth Harbour and sleeping on board the decommissioned HMS Bristol battle ship.
They also had the opportunity to meet a range of employees, gaining an inside view of the Royal Navy. It was a great week with one student proclaiming that the trip had changed his life for the better.
We would like to give thanks to the Royal Navy for their excellent organisation and engagement throughout the week.
