Industry and education collaborate at CITB Hub
UTC Reading ran CITB Hub on Wednesday 7 June, providing the opportunity for representatives from the construction industry to meet with local education providers to discuss apprenticeships and training.
Employers from Francis Construction, PBA, Norwegian Log and Telnik Roofing were joined at the event by representatives from Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), Activate Learning, Thames Valley Construction Training Association, The Oxfordshire Construction Training Group and UTC Reading.
The event was introduced by Michael Halliday, Business Development Manager at UTC Reading, and Alex Warner, Director of Technology at Activate Learning. Further presentations were delivered by Doug Mullinger from Activate Learning and Katie Smith and Kate Wick from CITB.
The event gave attendees the opportunity to ensure training and apprenticeships are providing what the construction industry needs and that students are sufficiently informed about industry opportunities.
Following the presentations, industry professionals and students studying construction-related subjects at Reading College took part in a speed networking session. Students were able to get valuable advice on how to make the most of their education and get the career they are aspiring towards.
Thank you to all who attended and helped make this such a successful event. We look forward to hosting more in future.
