Industry partners interview students for gold awards
Over 70 UTC Reading students were interviewed by volunteers from Microsoft earlier this month, as part of their applications for the Duke of York Gold Award for Technical Education.
The Duke of York Award for Technical Education acknowledges the success of young people choosing a technical route and encourages wider support from parents, businesses and other stakeholders. All Year 13 students at UTC Reading are working towards the gold Duke of York Award this year.
The interviews consisted of a variety of questions to find out about how students solve problems, technical projects they have undertaken, how they take responsibility for completing tasks or processes and their plans for the future.
The representatives from Microsoft were impressed by the level of knowledge and presentation skills of our students and very much enjoyed meeting them.
Student Riana Small commented: “It was really useful to get a good idea of how an interview would be with someone high up in industry.”
