Schools race to reach the final for F1 in Schools

On Tuesday 7 February, ten teams of local primary school children took part in the F1 in Schools regional heats at UTC Reading.

St Anne’s Primary School and Caversham Primary School took part in the races, competing to have the fastest car and get through to the regional final. Cars were designed using CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, aiming to engage the students in engineering.

The competition created a fantastic atmosphere. Sean Kearns, UTC Reading Teacher of Engineering and Product Design, commented: "The competition was a great success and the students seemed to highly enjoy the experience. Well done to all teams who took part - everyone did really well and there were some very impressive cars."

The winning teams will compete in the regional final on 2 May. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to seeing how they get on.
