UTC Reading students celebrate GCSE and technical qualification success

Year 11 students at UTC Reading are celebrating this morning after receiving their GCSEs and Level 2 technical qualifications.

Students at UTC Reading study English, Maths and Science as core subjects and then specialise in either Engineering or Computer Science along with other subjects. Alongside these, the students have had numerous enrichment opportunities to enhance their experience and importantly have engaged with local and national employers through different projects to help them define their direction and steps to future employment.

In addition to GCSEs and the technical qualifications, the Year 11 cohort have worked extensively with a variety employer partners to improve their work-readiness. These additional experiences ensure that our students are well-placed for future success with their destination aspirations.

Our vision is to ‘Transform Lives Through Learning’ and the journey our students have been on while at UTC Reading means they are well prepared for the next step.

“I am very proud of all our students getting their results today. They have shown excellent resilience and perseverance through a difficult period and they should be proud of all their achievements, not just the outcomes that they receive today.

“We are exceptionally pleased with an increase in the highest grades between 9-7. We are also celebrating fantastic destinations with students moving on to further level 3 study with us at UTC, and other local providers, as well as some prestigious level 3 apprenticeships with local employers.

“I am excited to welcome back students who return to us in Sixth form and wish all the students moving on to new destinations the best of luck in their futures.”

UTC Reading is continuing to support students by providing information, advice and guidance on results day.
