UTC Reading looks to top destinations following exam success

UTC Reading Year 13 students are ready to move on to amazing destinations as they celebrated a milestone today – picking up their A Level and Level 3 technical qualification results.
This year’s leavers from the STEM-specialist school are off to universities including Cambridge, Bath and Reading and some incredible apprenticeships at companies including Thames Water and WSP.
UTC Reading specialises in engineering and computer science, and this year’s exam outcomes reflect the hard work, technical talent and ambition of its students.

Specific Excellent Result outcomes
- 16% of all A Level Grades were A*-B
- 100% of all grades being DDD or above in BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Engineering
Next Steps: Apprenticeships and university
Many students have successfully secured highly sought-after apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships with leading national employers, including:
- Thames Water
- WSP

Other students are celebrating offers from respected universities, including:
- Cambridge
- Bristol
- Bath
- Portsmouth
- Warwick
- Oxford Brookes
Headteacher, Jennie Thomson said: “I am incredibly proud of all of our students who are receiving their results today, for the hard work, grit and determination they have shown in their studies over the last two years. It is brilliant to see so many of our students feeling proud, and most importantly seeing them move on to excellent destinations, armed with the qualifications and professional attributes they need to thrive in the world of work. I wish them every success in their next steps and I look forward to seeing them in the future as our alumni.”
