Year 13 students are celebrating after picking up their A Level and Level 3 qualification results, securing them places on prestigious degree apprenticeships and university places.
The school celebrated an overall positive set of results which is broken down below:
A Level
- 16% of all grades were A*/A
- 32% of grades were A*-B
- 51% of grades were A*-C
- 86% of grades were A*-E
- The average A Level grade was C-
Technical subjects
71% of all grades being D*D*D*/DDD in BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Engineering
- 35% of all grades being D*D*D*/DDD in BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Computing
- 58% of all grades being Distinction in BTEC L3 Extended Certificate in Engineering, with 100% of students passing the qualification.
Several of our students have landed apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships at prestigious firms including BAE Systems, Amazon, AWE, Morgan Sindall and UKAEA.
Students have also gained places on sought-after courses at universities including: Oxford University, Imperial College London, Southampton University, Manchester University, University of Reading, University of Surrey, Bristol University and Kings College London.
Headteacher Jennie Thomson said: “We are extremely proud of the results that students have achieved today. There are fantastic success stories across our whole Year 13 group with both A Level and BTEC courses and I am very proud of all of our students. Despite some really challenging circumstances over the last two years, students have shown excellent awareness, confidence and resilience and this is shown in their fantastic outcomes today, I wish all of them the best of luck in their next step to their future.”
Some notable achievements include:
- Mehrollah Shah Bakhsh, A*A*A*A is off to Oxford University to study physics. He is ‘very happy.’
- Inshaal Mirza, D*D*D in BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Engineering. Inshaal is ‘over the moon’ with his resultws, which are ‘better than expected.’ He is off to do a Mechatronics apprenticeship with Amazon and hopes to become a robotics engineer. On UTC Reading he says: “If I had to do it all again I would; no regrets – it’s been great.”
- Alice Griebeg got BBB in Biology, Physics and Maths and an A (epq). She has already started a manufacturing engineering degree apprenticeship at a national defence company. She says she’s celebrating by ‘going back to work.’
- Adam Tirey D*D*D* BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Engineering is ‘very happy, so pleased – I’m celebrating with an Indian takeaway!’. Adam is off to Oxford Brookes to study motorsport engineering.
- Former Head of Sixth Form Amaan Khan, D*D*D* BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Engineering will be taking up a Construction Management degree apprenticeship with Overbury/Morgan Sindall. He says he’s: “Shocked and amazed with higher than expected results.”
- Mikael Garayev, A* BBC is going to Queen Mary’s London to study Maths and Statistics. He wants to work in finance.
- Ayden McCormack D*D*D BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Engineering says his results are ‘Brilliant’ and is celebrating with a well-earned pint down the pub before going out for dinner with his family. He is taking up a degree apprenticeship with Bae Systems as a Nuclear Engineering Degree Apprenticeship.
